About the Advertised Role

We are looking for a Legal Data Protection Consultant who will assist our German speaking clients to become compliant with applicable data protection laws. Thanks to the efficiency provided by our TPOmap tool, you will have the means to effectively improve the way your clients protect their personal data for the benefit of themselves and the freedoms and liberties of their employees, clients and society as a whole. Passionate about data protection and caring about people, you will establish true connections with your customers to identify needs, find creative high quality solutions and provide effective compliance support. You will work closely with your colleagues and management. Your discipline, communication skills and motivation will ensure that The Privacy Office lives up to its commitments as data protection officer and/or data protection advisor.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Assist companies with the precise documentation of their records of processing activities;
• Develop data protection policies that are not only compliant with GDPR, local data protection laws and other relevant regulations but also tailored to the clients’ needs;
• Help clients managing their vendors by drafting data protection agreements, assessing risks and suggesting appropriate technical & organizational measures;
• Draft privacy notices in a precise and transparent way;
• Respond to requests from data subjects exercising their rights under data protection laws;
• Provide advice and support to clients on various data protection issues, including privacy by design, and where appropriate provide training and awareness sessions;
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs);
• Stay aware and up to date with the latest legislative developments as well as regulatory changes in the field of data protection;
• Maintain open and effective communication, provide constructive feedback to clients;
• Collaborate in a multicultural environment with cross-functional teams, including representatives of management, IT, information security, developers and marketing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master in law;
• In-depth knowledge of data protection legislation;
• 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in the new technologies sector (software, IT services provider);
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and organizational skills;
• Excellent written and verbal language skills in English and German (essential prerequisites)
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch would be an asset
• Experience working in small start-ups or highly-dynamic teams
• Good knowledge of IT tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
